Another big attraction for this year’s World Aesthetic Congress is the tour and dinner at the Houses of Parliament. Following Friday’s lectures, the organisers of WAC, Independent Seminars, have arranged a special social event at the famous venue. Attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy a tour of the House of Commons and the House of Lords, followed by a three-course dinner in the stunning private members’ dining room. Delegates will be able to revel in the august atmosphere created from over 150 years of parliamentary history. The World Aesthetic Congress aims to educate, inspire and motivate the dentist and the dental team. Recognising the importance of the team in the delivery of superb dentistry, the team programme has been expanded to two full days. It will include alternative programmes running simultaneously, giving attendees the option to tailor the sessions to suit their interests.
The event runs over two days at the easily accessible Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre in central London. But don’t leave it much later to book as there is limited attendance at some of the more popular sessions, such as Trent Smallwood’s advanced programmes in case presentation and marketing, and Douglas Terry’s hands-on session on composite resins.
Dentists and team members are recommended to attend both days, while hygienists and technicians have dedicated one-day programmes and are able to attend either individual days or to come for the whole event.
Speaking to inspire
Events at WAC will be divided into several arenas. If you are looking for inspiration from the key speakers the first place to head for is the Fleming Room, where Steve Smith (motivational speaker), Douglas Terry, Eddie Scher, George Kirtley and Mike Wise will all be lecturing.
You can listen to Mike Wise talk about occlusion and implants or learn from George Kirtley who will be discussing smile design at the very highest level. Due to the expected large number of delegates this year, there will be two main stages that will run simultaneously to each other, meaning every subject will be covered and you can tailor your programme to suit your needs easily. Bob Khanna will be on the second stage discussing how to set up the ultimate facial aesthetic practice and doing live Botox demonstrations.
The fourth floor of the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre has a variety of more intimate lecture rooms where there will be specific programmes for nurses, team members and dentists. You can rest assured that your colleagues will leave the Congress wanting to work better as a team and improving communication with each other and your patients. There will be many new ideas to help transform your practice, with everything from introducing ‘best practice’ ideas to more radical concepts such as the introduction of a ‘spa like’ feel.
That’s not all the fourth floor can offer – there is also an innovative new programme for technicians, often the unsung heroes of aesthetic dentistry. This programme on the Saturday will cover the important issues surrounding maximising the dentist-laboratory relationship.
