Search for the best smile

This year’s ‘Smile of the Year’ campaign has been launched with the search to find the denture wearer with the best smile in Britain under way.

Leading denture companies Steradent and Schottlander are leading the campaign, which recognises the millions of people of all ages in the UK who wear dentures and feel confident and attractive.

Dental professionals are being encouraged to help find this year’s ‘Smile of the Year’ winner by displaying entry forms in their practice – it could be a patient. Staff at the dental practice which treats the denture wearer with the best smile in Britain will celebrate with a fabulous prize of a trip to Paris for two, plus a case of fine wine and delicious luxury chocolates. The ‘Smile of the Year’ winner will be able to choose a fantastic prize of either a romantic holiday break for two, a stay in a luxury spa retreat or a fun-filled family holiday at one of the UK’s top theme parks.

Last year’s ‘Smile of the Year’ winner, 29-year-old Lyndsay Allen from Edinburgh, said: ‘I’m happy to laugh and smile all the time because my teeth look great’.

Despite the perception that dentures are worn only by the elderly, a million wearers in the UK are between the ages of 16 and 44, and overall dentures are worn by more than eleven million people in the UK, a quarter of all adults.

Dr Brian Schottlander said: ‘The Steradent Schottlander Smile of the Year campaign aims to highlight the fact that denture wearers, young and old, can look great and feel confident. People are often surprised how natural dentures look, allowing people to wear them without others knowing.’

Anyone wishing to nominate a friend, family member or themselves for the Steradent Schottlander ‘Smile of the Year’ competition should email their entries with a picture to [email protected] or post them to Steradent Schottlander ‘Smile of the Year’ Competition, Rae Lewis PR, 117 Sutton Court, Chiswick, London, W4 3EE. The closing date for entries is 31 December 2007.
