A magical 2007 Showcase

The British Dental Trade Association (BDTA) has announced that this year’s Showcase was the most successful to date.

Earlier this month (18-20 October) 347 stands exhibited the latest dental products, technologies and services to 11,876 visitors who attended the exhibition at the NEC Birmingham. It makes Dental Showcase 2007 the biggest yet in terms of both visitor and exhibitor numbers. The exhibition covered a massive 20,000sqm, the most floor space ever allocated to the event.

All members of the dental care team were well represented, with many individuals visiting the exhibition on more than one of the three days, while 45% of all visitors were dentists.

Feedback from visitors and exhibitors has been extremely positive, with many exhibitors complimenting the BDTA for the layout of the exhibition and the smooth running of the event and visitors saying they would definitely visit Showcase again.

Tony Reed, executive director of the BDTA, said: ‘Showcase is the UK’s premier dental exhibition and we are naturally pleased with the success of this year’s event which has surpassed all records in terms of visitor and exhibitor numbers.

‘I would like to thank everyone who helped to make it such a terrific event, especially those who put so much time and effort into producing some really eye-catching stands. The BDTA will continue to build on the success of this year’s event to bring you another great exhibition in London in 2008.’

This year’s ‘Touch of Magic’ theme worked effectively to promote the event beforehand as well as during the event. Many exhibitors adopted a magical theme as part of their stand and marketing activities. Visitors enjoyed the tricks of internationally renowned magician Alan Hudson on the BDTA stand, searching for the magic white rabbits located on exhibition stands and having their photograph taken with the official life-size Showcase rabbit which made a surprise appearance on Saturday.

Several thousand entries were received in the prize draw for the trip to the Magic Kingdom in Disney World Resort Florida. The lucky winner was Mrs Lisa Bates of B V Nuttall Dental Health Ltd, Sheffield.

The event also provided the dental team with an opportunity to learn hands-on about new techniques and research and compare new products and services. CPD certificates will be sent in November to all those who requested them to acknowledge the valuable learning which takes place at Showcase. Visitors will also receive a questionnaire enabling them to provide feedback on the event.

BDTA Dental Showcase 2008 will take place between 2-4 October 2008. For further information, please contact the BDTA on 01494 782873 or visit www.bdta.org.uk
