Go online to find an NHS dentist

A new directory on the NHS website has been launched in a bid to help people find a dentist.

The online service aims to make it easier for people to find their nearest surgery accepting new patients.

All they need do is key in their postcode.

By logging on to the NHS Choices website, clicking on, ‘dentist’ and then entering a postcode, people can find out about surgeries close to where they live, their opening times and which dentists are accepting new patients.

Also listed, the services the practice offers, the names and roles of surgery staff and a Healthcare Commission rating of the PCT the practice comes under.

A lack of information is one of the frequent complaints made by patients looking for an NHS dentist.

The online directory also includes a helpline number if people fail to track down a dental surgery taking on new patients.

The directory can be found at www.nhs.co.uk.
