Registration drop-in days

The GDC is encouraging unregistered dental technicians and nurses to attend registration drop-in days.

To call yourself a dental technician or dental nurse from 30 July 2008, you will need to be registered with the GDC (General Dental Council).

If you don’t have a current qualification and plan to register on the basis of a qualification that is no longer awarded, by experience or by previous membership of the voluntary register, you must do so before 30 July 2008 – after the deadline the only way to register will be with a qualification.

In order to aid this process the GDC is holding registration drop-in days around the country.

The GDC can check application forms as well as offer advice on the registration process and, if everything is in order, can take completed forms back to the office for processing.

Completed forms and accompanying documents can be submitted on behalf of absent colleagues.

You can download an application pack in advance from their website at www.gdc-uk.org.

Remember to take along certified copies of all relevant supporting documents.

There is a drop-in session for dental technicians on 3 July from 4-7pm at the Cyncoed Campus, Conference Room 3, Cardiff, and there are drop-in sessions for dental nurse and dental technicians on 9 July from 4-7pm at the West of Scotland Centre for Postgraduate Dental Education, 378 Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow, and on 10 July from 1-4pm at the Edinburgh Postgraduate Dental Institute, Level 4 Lauriston Building, Lauriston Place, Edinburgh.
