GDC fees consultation underway

The GDC has opened a consultation to gather views on how the registrant fees (Annual Retention Fees) are set.

The Annual Retention Fee (ARF) is determined by the Council, based on recommendations from the Finance and Human Resources Committee. Their recommendation is based on the funding that the GDC will need to meet its operational requirements.

In order to increase the understanding of the process, the Finance and Human Resources Committee have drafted a policy describing how their recommendations are made, and the GDC would like to gather views on this before adopting it.

Gordon Miles, GDC Director of Resources and Planning said: ‘We are keen to get as many responses as possible to the consultation from dental professionals, professional associations, patients and patient groups, all of which will play an important part in helping us determine the GDC’s annual fees.  This is an ideal opportunity for registrants to have their say on how the fees are set.’

The GDC’s retention fees are used to cover the costs of providing professional regulation and to protect the public through the Council’s services, information, advice and guidance for both the public and registrants.
