National Examining Board for Dental Nurses (NEBDN) appoints a new chief executive

The National Examining Board for Dental Nurses (NEBDN) has appointed a new Chief Executive.

Phil Hughes has worked in senior managerial positions in both the private and voluntary sector, most recently with Age Concern. As Business Development Manager at two of the largest Age Concern organisations in the country, Phil has over ten years experience developing both commercial and charitable services.

With a degree in Business Management, Phil is currently in the final year of a MBA through the University of Central Lancashire. Phil has been appointed to the post, which became vacant on 31 December 2008 when Jennifer Lavery retired.

Commenting on his appointment Phil Hughes said: ‘I am delighted to be taking up my new role at NEBDN, and look forward to working with such a dedicated team at what I feel is an exciting time.’

NEBDN Chairman, Beverley Coker said: ‘I am delighted that Phil has been appointed as Chief Executive. The interview panel was very impressed with the skills and knowledge that Phil had developed through his role at Age Concern.

These skills will be important in leading the organisation through the changes that statutory registration brings. His work in the charity sector will bring a new dimension to the organisation. I would like to add my personal congratulations to him.’

Phil formally took up his new role on 5 January 2009, and is based at 110 London Street, Fleetwood, Lancashire, FY7 7BF.
