Dr Rob Bate, a GDP practicing in Warwick, was awarded the Schottlander Prosthetics Prize at the University of Bristol BUOLD awards ceremony.
He received the award for his case study, undertaken whilst completing the BUOLD prosthetic module, which was given the highest marks by tutors.
On being awarded the Schottlander Prize Dr Bate said: ‘I am tremendously pleased to have received this award. I thoroughly enjoyed the BUOLD course, and found it stimulating, accessible and relevant to real-life clinical situations.’
Dr Bate’s case involved dealing with a failed Maryland Bridge, the correction of occlusal problems, the repair of fractured porcelain and the provision of an RPD. All this had to be achieved within a short time, since the patient had dropped and broken her immediate replacement partial denture just two weeks before her daughter’s wedding.
