Dentist dies in motorbike race

A Colchester dentist has died from injuries sustained in a motorbike race.

Roy Parbury, 54, was competing in a British Motorcycle Racing Club race, in Kent, when he was involved in the accident, www.essexcountystandard.co.uk reports.

Mr Parbury owned the Art of Dentistry practice, in The Avenue, Colchester, and had worked in the town for more than 30 years.

His partner, Jane Epsom, who is also the practice manager, said she was ‘very proud of him’.

She said: ‘Most of his patients had been seeing him for 25 to 30 years and it carried on through the generations, with their children becoming patients, too.

‘His staff had also worked for him for a long time and are a close group. It is a measure of how much he was liked.’

Mr Parbury had four children, John, Mark, James and Emma.

He was in the top six racers in the country last year in the Yamaha Past Masters class.

Sons, John and Mark, were also involved in the YPM class and John was at the race at which the accident happened.

An inquest into Mr Parbury’s death has been opened and adjourned.
