A new course for busy dentists who wish to learn advanced techniques while continuing to work in their practice in any country in the world has been launched.
The blended learning team at the King’s College London Dental Institute has developed the flexible graduate programme, an MSc in aesthetic dentistry, with time-poor dentists in mind.
The course follows on from the MClinDent (fixed and removable prosthodontics) which is now in its 11th year.
The King’s College London Dental Institute is a pioneer in distance learning in dentistry and currently provides postgraduate teaching for more than 200 students in 40 countries.
It has more than 20 years experience in distance and, more recently, online education.
The course takes a blended learning approach, with an annual residential course in London and course materials and twice monthly online support from tutors (including access to videos showing dental techniques and e-library resources).
Face-to-face courses span nine days and cover the practical training, taught by a panel of experts from the King’s College London faculty and leading experts in the field.
Examples of topics include composite restorations for aesthetic and wear cases, simple gingival and osseous procedures through to managing the occlusion and implant aesthetics.
The programme has been oversubscribed and dentists fortunate to get a place for January 2010 will be delighted to be able to access now, as the content has been launched ahead of schedule.
Welcome tutorials will be running online in January, hands-on training in February and March and free supporting materials will be shipped to their practice following the face-to-face courses.
Expert lead tutor groups will be set up in different time zones to provide regular advice and support.
