Dentists scale (down) and polish

A miniature dental team is making a massive meal out of cleaning teeth in one London dental practice.

Dentist Ian Davis has created a world where cavities are the size of craters, drills are of the workmen variety and teeth really are as large as tombstones.

He has used real-life casts of his patients’ mouths and tiny models of workmen to create the scenes – pictures of which are the crowning glory in Dr Davis’s recently refurbished surgery.

Giving dentistry the Lilliput treatment, he has workmen digging holes in molars and fixing veneers from scaffolding and deep sea divers carrying out root canal treatment

A keen lensman, his inspiration came from an article in a photography magazine.

Ian, whose practice is in Golders Green, north west London, said: ‘Patients have been very positive about them. I liked the idea of miniature figures in everyday life pictured close up. I’ve certainly not seen them anywhere else. It’s quirky and it makes the patients smile in the waiting room.’

He is now considering selling the photographs. Anyone interested in his miniature dental scenes can contact him at his surgery in Finchley Road on 020 8455 3361.
