MBE for Steele NHS dentistry review member

A member of the Steele review team which took an independent look into NHS dentistry has been awarded in the New Year honours.

Janet Clarke – former chair of the Central Committee for Community and Public Health Dentistry of the BDA and clinical director of salaried dental services for Heart of Birmingham Teaching PCT – was among those honoured in the New Year list with an MBE.

The review was commissioned last year following widespread criticism of the new contract by the House of Commons Health Select Committee.

Other MBEs were given to Donna Hough, dental workforce development lead for DCPs, North Western and Mersey Postgraduate Deaneries; Laura Mitchell, consultant orthodontist and clinical lead, St Luke’s Hospital Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and Angus Robertson (below), principal fellow in clinical illustration, Leeds Dental Institute.
