A trip to the International Dental Conference in Chicago in February 2011 could prove an incentive to dental therapists considering a vocational training scheme.
The scheme is designed to equip dental therapy graduates with the necessary training and education required to work successfully in a general dental practice without the pressures of an oversized patient group.
As a therapist vocational trainee you will be employed by an approved training practice in the NESC boundary (Buckinghamshire, Milton Keynes, Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Hampshire, Isle of Wight) for three days/week.
The educational programme comprises 12 day-release training days, including a hands-on course.
An approved vocational trainer will be available to you during your three days of work for advice and support, providing at least 20, one hour in-practice seminars during the year.
A highlight of the programme is a trip to the International Dental Conference in Chicago in February 2011.
Therapist Vocational Trainees will be employed on an NHS Agenda for Change Band 6.23 rate, currently £25,829, paid pro-rata for 3 days per week, and will benefit from employment with a formal contract and 12 days (4 weeks pro-rata) paid holiday during the year.
