Dental practices commit to Change4Life at Showcase

The BDTA hosted a stand at Showcase 2010 to promote its support of the Department of Health’s Change4Life initiative and was delighted with the interest from visitors.

The BDTA began its’ ‘Kick out the sweets, bring on the treats’ campaign in September 2010 to promote the benefits of a healthy mouth to good overall health and ultimately encourage families to continue to visit the dentist.

The stand at Showcase provided a useful information point for members of the dental team wanting to get involved and gave practices who are already taking part in the eye-catching campaign the opportunity to express their commitment.

Tony Reed, executive director at the BDTA, said: ‘We were delighted to speak with so many dental team members about the campaign and the benefits to dental practices getting involved in a national campaign aimed at improving children’s health.

‘Almost 400 visitors requested Change4Life packs to be sent to them so they can get involved and support the initiative which was very encouraging.’

Members of the dental team participating in the campaign are encouraging the parents who visit the practice to complete the Change4Life questionnaires, with the involvement of their children.

Stickers are then provided by the BDTA to give to the children who get involved and participating practices will have the chance to win one of four £500 vouchers to spend with a BDTA member company.
