Cosmetic dentists helps needy children

The British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (BACD) has raised more than £5,000 for the charity, Facing the World.

The charity helps to give needy children with facial deformities the miracle of a new face and a life free from the stigma of disfigurement.

The donations are part of the valuable work that the BACD does for Facing the World via its charitable arm, Smiling for the World, which involves BACD member dentists volunteering their time and services free of charge to provide whitening treatments to patients, who then make donations to the charity.

The result of a ground-breaking alliance between the BACD and six whitening giants, Dentsply, Discus Dental, DMDS, Enlighten Smiles, Optident, Pola and Wy10,  Smiling for the World brings together practitioners and leading manufacturers of whitening kits in a bid to help those less fortunate.

BACD president, Dr James Goolnik, says: ‘As dentists we have the ability to affect the way people feel about themselves – and this project allows us to do it on a much grander scale.’

To date, the foundation, together with its partners, has managed to raise £17,000 in total for Facing the World since 2007.
