Dental school to host big implant debate

In what is believed to be the biggest debate on the subject of its kind, four dental implant manufacturers will join dental practitioners, academics and students at the Peninsula Dental School for Why choose our titanium? The implant debate and your choice.

The event will take place at the Peninsula Dental School in the Roland Levinsky Building, University of Plymouth, on Wednesday 19 January between 7.00-9.00pm. Attendance is free of charge and includes refreshments from 6.00pm.

The four implant manufacturers taking part in the event are Astra Tech, Neoss, Dentsply and Straumann. Each will be given the opportunity to demonstrate their implant systems and those attending the debate will be able to ask questions and vote for the system they prefer.

Mr Matthew Jerreat, acting associate director of clinical dental education and Year 4 lead at the Peninsula Dental School, says: ‘Implant technology has become such an integral part of our treatment arsenal, yet there has been little debate between manufacturers, practitioners, academics and those training to be dentists about the various merits of the different systems on the market.

‘We believe that this is the first time that manufacturers and dental professionals have debated the topic on this scale, and we hope to be joined by dental professionals from the South West and further afield for what will be a lively event.’

Those wishing to attend the debate can do so by calling Mina Eaton on 01752 586828 or by emailing her at [email protected]..
