Dentist pens a patient’s guide to dentistry

A dentist has published a guide for patients to find the best-suited dentist for them.

UK dentist and dental technician Dr Neil Gerrard, 39, has created a new methodology to enable people to learn about their dental options.

Be it the choice between cosmetic dentistry and aesthetic dentistry, or even defeating the common fear of the dentist, Dr Gerrard, who runs The Clifton Dental Studio in Bristol, has packed his experience into There is No Perfect Dentist, an easy-to-read guidebook.

Dr Gerrard is one of only 12 dentists nationally to have achieved accreditation status with the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (BACD) and has devised a way forward that takes the best of dentistry research techniques and complements them with the wisest philosophies and experienced judgements.

He says: ‘At the very heart of There is No Perfect Dentist, is the idea that if you find a good one, then great; if not, you may find yourself regretting it later.’

‘Until the widespread use of the internet, the only way to choose a dentist was to either seek recommendations or to look in the Yellow Pages. Nowadays, quality information is available online. However, much of this is directed toward the types of treatments available and what they involve. Until now, unbiased information offering advice on how to choose the right dentist for you has been lacking, and my book is aimed at addressing this disparity.’

In a career spanning more than 15 years, he has helped thousands of people around the UK with their cosmetic dental needs.

Neil’s area of special interest is in advanced cosmetic dentistry, complex smile reconstruction and smile rejuvenation.

His advanced training in smile design has enabled him to become a member of many top dental institutions.

He holds full membership of the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and a sustaining membership with the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.
