Toothbrushes get soft with new Hydrosonic

A sonic toothbrush that breaks the mould in toothbrush development was launched at Showcase yesterday (Thursday).

Curaprox announced the UK launch of its Hydrosonic, developed with a very soft head based on filament technology known as Curen.

Building upon its success with soft-headed manual toothbrushes, international sales director, Richard Thomas, explained how the company has broken away from the sonic toothbrush market by providing one with soft filaments.

Richard said: ‘Most toothbrushes have 500-1,600 filaments but we developed a manual brush with 5,460 filaments that offers a much more effective clean.

‘The example I user is that if you tipped a pile of sand onto a kitchen floor, it’s more effective to clean it up with a soft head with lots of bristles than a hard brush; the technology is the same with plaque.’

He added: ‘We are very different from other products in the world in that we have now taken that technology into the sonic market. Soft brushes are less traumatic so there’s less bleeding around the gums.’

The new Hydrosonic was launched in Germany in June and has had ‘great feedback’.
Curaprox’s Showcase offer is buy six Hydrosonics and get a trial unit for the practice free.

The team (at Stand B23) is also offering branded manual toothbrushes for dentists keen to market their practices.
