Those intending to attend the 2012 Career opportunities in UK dentistry event have just two weeks left to save themselves money by purchasing tickets at discounted ‘earlybird’ rates.
Delegates buying tickets on or before 30 November will save up to £10, compared to those securing their places from 1 December onwards.
The event, which is organised jointly by the British Dental Association and UCL Eastman Dental Institute, takes place at the Hotel Russell in London on Friday 3 February 2012.
Now in its 12th year, it provides advice and practical guidance for young dentists weighing up their options at the start of their careers, overseas dentists forging a new career in the UK, or experienced dentists considering a mid-career change direction.
Speakers for include Earl Howe, parliamentary under-secretary of state with responsibility for dental services; Professor Jimmy Steele, head of Newcastle Dental School and author of the influential review of dental services upon which reforms currently being undertaken in England are founded; chief dental officer Dr Barry Cockcroft; and new General Dental Council chair Professor Kevin O’Brien.
Delegates will be able to choose from seven different streams at the event, including sessions on topics as diverse as whether it’s possible to graduate straight into private practice, what working for a corporate means, the pros and cons of practice ownership, shifting career options in salaried and hospital care, and the attractions of working overseas. The day will include a number of highly-practical sessions, including a new interview skills workshop with learning and development specialist Helena Sharpstone and guidance on financial planning from Daniel James of Lloyd and Whyte.
The day offers delegates five hours of verifiable CPD.
