Showcase donates £10,000 to charities

The UK’s biggest dental exhibition, BDTA Dental Showcase, will be donating up to £10,000 to three charities as part of their new e-ticketing system.

Delegates are invited to vote for their favourite dental charity when they register for their exhibition e-ticket, with the proceeds shared between the three charities in accordance with the vote.

The three charities are Dentaid, Bridge2Aid and the British Dental Health Foundation.

Chief Executive of the British Dental Health Foundation, Dr Nigel Carter OBE, says: “We are delighted to be chosen as one of the charities being supported by BDTA Dental Showcase. The Foundation continues to do outstanding work in raising the awareness of oral health and any donations made, no matter how big or small, make such a huge difference.

"Regular donations are a vital part of our fundraising efforts, particularly in our work to highlight the dangers of mouth cancer, which is now diagnosed in 6,000 people in the UK every year. It is important that we continue to raise awareness of the early warning signs of the disease, as well as the risk factors – to be able to do this, continued support and generous donations are vital.

“I speak on behalf of the Foundation when I say an enormous thank you to the BDTA and to all those in the community who will vote for us in the coming weeks.”

Dental Showcase: A Voyage of Discovery, will take place at ExCeL, London from 4th – 6th October. Over 300 exhibitors from the UK and abroad will display the latest innovative dental products and services. More than 10,000 members of the dental profession are expected to attend the three-day event.

The Foundation will have two stands at the exhibition this year, displaying a variety of patient education material and other essential resources for dental practices. Foundation staff will be there to meet with exhibition-goers to discuss their work and how the charity can assist members of the profession.

Dr Carter adds: “Supporting dental professionals to improve their patient education and communication is an important aspect of the Foundation’s work, and Dental Showcase is the perfect venue to display our efforts in this field.”

The Foundation can be found at stands F18 and F19.
