Philips, makers of the dentists’ most favoured sonic toothbrush worldwide recently launched the Sonicare AirFloss, an easy, effective way to clean in between teeth. Now the revolutionary hand-held device has been accredited by the British Dental Health Foundation.
Research had shown the company that flossing on a regular basis can be hard to achieve effectively, is considered time consuming as well as painful, so with this in mind Philips created a more palatable alternative. With its pioneering ‘microburst technology’ Sonicare AirFloss is designed to make interproximal cleaning easier, whilst maximising plaque removal between teeth to help improve gum health.
During Philips consumer testing, 86 percent of users found Sonicare AirFloss easier to use than string floss[i] and it was shown to remove more debris from between the teeth compared with brushing with a manual toothbrush alone.
Sonicare AirFloss works by producing a rapid burst of air and tiny water droplets – which can reach up to 45mph – to thoroughly fill the area between teeth, known as the interproximal space, and force out the plaque bacteria.
This rapid burst of air and water is directed using a nozzle guidance tip which ensures precise and targeted cleaning between teeth whilst the angled neck allows the user to access all areas of the mouth with no need to put their hands in their mouth and with no mess.
Philips Sonicare AirFloss is simple to operate and cleans between every tooth in less than a minute, while using less than one teaspoon of water for two full cleaning sessions.
Its ergonomically designed body fits compactly into the hand making it easy to grasp, and its cordless, rechargeable handle fits on the same charger as the Sonicare FlexCare+, so there is less clutter in the bathroom.

An independent panel of internationally recognised dental experts study all the claims carefully to make sure they are true, and backed up by reliable scientific evidence.
