New president appointed

The British Society of Dental Hygiene and Therapy (BSDHT) announced the appointment of Julie Rosse as president in succession to her predecessor Sally Simpson.

Julie qualified as a dental hygienist at the Eastman Dental Institute in London in 1995 and worked in community dental health before moving into general practice. She has been a member of BSDHT since her student days, serving for a time as secretary of the North East Regional Group. As president elect since 2010, she continued as regional group co-ordinator – a responsibility she will retain as president.

Julie said: ‘I’m delighted and honoured to be taking over as president and hope to carry on the fabulous work of Sally Simpson who has really taken the organisation forward during her two years in office.

‘I have always believed that the strength of BSDHT lies not only in the hard work and commitment of the members of council and executive but also of those who work tirelessly for us within our regional groups. And that’s why I plan to stay closely involved with our regional teams during my period as president.’

Outside of work Julie enjoys reading, cycling, walking, and family time with her husband and two children.
