Dental clinic welcomes new partner

Guy also retains his role as a dpecialist in orthodontics.

Guy joined the clinic in 2009 to introduce the orthodontic service to Queensway Dental Clinic as the lead clinician following the awarding of a new NHS contract. After four successful years at Queensway, he has now joined as a partner taking the board to five strong.

On a day-to-day basis, Guy’s duties will remain the same and his time spent with patients will not be affected. One of his first tasks as partner was to employ a new team leader to help maintain and improve quality, efficiency and effectiveness in all aspects of the orthodontics business.

In the future Guy plans to build on the success of the practice to date, to ensure Queensway Orthodontics continue to offer a high-quality NHS and private service for patients and referring dentists alike.

Guy comments on his partnership: 'As the clinic has become established and ever busier, a partnership seemed the next logical step to help maintain and improve the service which the team and I can offer patients and referring colleagues. It is nerve racking of course, and a big step for me personally, but ultimately it’s extremely exciting and motivating. It’s certainly rewarding to feel a sense of ownership and pride in the quality of service and care we provide. In practical terms, it means that decisions can be made more quickly in the interests of orthodontic patients, clinic and team. I’m grateful to the existing partners, Paul, Ian, Uzma and Will for giving me this opportunity.'

Dr Paul Averley, managing Papartner, Queensway Dental Clinic said: 'We’re delighted to welcome Guy to the Partnership Board and look forward to working with him in the future. Guy has proven to be an invaluable member of the team over the years, taking the orthodontic division of the Clinic from strength to strength.”

Guy qualified with honours in dentistry at the University of Newcastle. After working in a number of hospital oral surgery positions in Manchester and London, he completed his specialist training in orthodontics at Guy’s and Kingston Hospitals in London, where he was awarded the Professor Walther prize in orthodontics. As well as leading the orthodontic team at Queensway Orthodontics, Guy is a visiting specialist to the Orthodontic Department at Newcastle Dental Hospital, where he is involved in teaching trainee orthodontists and dentists. In addition to his clinical duties Guy is also actively involved with the British Orthodontic Society and is currently the Honorary Secretary of the Specialist Practitioners Group.
