Wirral man unlawfully practised dentistry

On Tuesday 9 July, Andrew Thom appeared at Wirral Magistrates' Court and pleaded guilty to unlawfully practising dentistry contrary to Section 38 (1) and (2) of the Dentist's Act 1984, and Mr Thom on behalf of Confidential Laboratories Limited also pleaded guilty to unlawfully carrying on the business of dentistry contrary to Section 43 (1) and (3) of the Dentist's Act 1984.

Between 2 August 2011 and on or around 11 June 2013, Mr Thom unlawfully practised dentistry at Sherwood Road, Moels, Wirral, Merseyside, CH47 9RS, whilst not registered with the GDC.

Between 2 August 2011 and on or around 11 June 2013, Confident Laboratories Limited unlawfully carried on the business of dentistry at a time when a majority of its directors were not and are not persons who are either registered dentists or registered dental care professionals.

Mr Thom was fined £100 for each offence, ordered to pay a £20 victim surcharge and £500 towards GDC costs.
