ADAM (Association of Dental Administrators and Managers) and All Med Pro a specialist insurance provider to the dental profession are pleased to announce the launch of a new legal expenses insurance policy for Dental Administrators and Managers.
Sunil Abeyewickreme a partner at DWF, a specialist dental legal firm, has commented on the importance of this cover. 'Practice managers are responsible for overseeing the day to day running of dental practices and ensuring that they comply with a wrath of regulations.
'In addition they often take on statutory responsibilities with organisations such as the Care Quality Commission. As a consequence, practice managers and administrators take on significant risks when carrying out their role. They are not only responsible to their employers but also potentially to various regulatory bodies, and with the rise in criminal prosecutions for corporate manslaughter as dental practices can be dangerous places with drugs and equipment, eg. x-ray machines, practice managers could have plenty to worry about.'
The All Med Pro legal expenses insurance plan designed for dental administrators and managers not only protects members against their employers against unfair dismissal (irrespective of whether it constitutes constructive dismissal) and other claims in the Employment Tribunal, but also protects members against regulatory breaches including enforcement action taken by the CQC and provides for defence of any criminal prosecutions.
