Unleash potential through direct access

Direct access was introduced from 1 May 2013 for GDC registered dental hygienists and therapists. Patients can now visit dental hygienists and therapists to carry out certain treatments without having to be referred by a dentist and without a prescription.

To understand the implications and opportunities for dental hygienists and therapists, and to make the most of these exciting times, four leading dental companies have come together with the support of the BADT and BSDHT to host an exciting and educational road show event, providing five hours verifiable CPD.

The ‘Unleash Your Potential’ seminar aims to provide delegates with the necessary information and skills required to practice safely and effectively in the best interest of their patients. Delivered by industry experts this event will ensure you leave feeling confident to undertake all duties within your scope of practice.

The seminar programme covers key topics including: ‘Your Guide to Direct Access’, ‘Mechanical Plaque Removal – is it enough?’, ‘Successful Tooth Whitening: A Dental Hygienist and Dental Therapist Perspective’, ‘Decontamination & HTM 01-05’. There is also an opportunity for hands-on training including ‘A Guide to Direct Restorations’ and ‘When, Why and How of Dental Instrument Sharpening’. Hands-on sessions should be booked in advance of the event.

‘Unleash Your Potential’ is being delivered across three dates and venues, from 2.00pm to 8.00pm:

  • Tuesday 8 October, The Victory Services Club, London
  • Wednesday 9 October, Hilton Manchester Airport, Manchester
  • Thursday 10 October, Marriott Cardiff
