£800,000 investment grows global demand

One of the world’s leading dental bur manufacturers and exporters is investing a total of £800,000 into the business to increase production and productivity to capitalise on the rapidly growing demand for its quality products.

Prima Dental has announced that over £700,000 will be invested in additional high performance machinery for its production plant in Waterwells Business Park in Gloucester, enabling the company to manufacture over 1.2 million more products each year.

The investment will also lead to the recruitment of an additional seven staff, including CNC machine operators to support Prima Dental’s expansion.

This latest investment comes on the back of record first half year trading figures for Prima Dental, as highlighted by managing director Richard Muller.

He said: 'The first half of 2013 has been exceptional for us and I am delighted to say we are on track for another record trading year. All our major markets continue to grow and we are seeing an unprecedented pipeline of orders.'

He added: ‘This latest tranche of investment into the business will enable us to increase production, tap into a wider variety of export opportunities and establish new markets and clients. We’re feeling very confident about our export position and are pushing forward with plans for joint ventures and other trading initiatives in countries like India and Brazil.’

In addition to this £700,000 investment, Prima Dental also injected a further £100,000 of capital earlier this year to fund a trial in automation via robotics on its production floor. Richard explained: ‘We are continually investing in our production facilities to ensure our products are among the best in the world. This pilot trial of automation via robotics represents another step forward in enhancing our productivity and product quality.’

Prima Dental is a world leader in the design and manufacture of precision dental products, exporting to over 100 countries worldwide. Earlier this year the company launched a range of innovative web-based tools to capitalise on growing global demand for its dental products. Harnessing digital technology and social media, Prima Dental developed an iPad App for dental clients – the first of its kind in its sector. Prima Dental also launched a new multi-tier website and a suite of e-learning tools, pioneering new ideas in dental e-learning for its clients and trade partners across the globe.
