So this is it… the final stage!
Over the past six days, Straumann’s team of cyclists have travelled from Basel through to Epinal, St Dizier, Reims and Calais. The experience has indeed tested each individual’s stamina, focus and physical energy but they have all kept together, all determined to reach the £30,000 target.
The final stretch of the Charity Bike Ride saw our team of cyclist’s board an early ferry crossing from Calais this morning. Foggy and slightly damp… That’s the weather our #dentistsinlycra were welcomed by when they reached the port in Dover before continuing on bike at around 09:20.
Today’s 86 miles are moderate in difficulty and, although there is some climbing, noting over 600ft, these roads are also some of the best for cycling in Kent and Sussex. By the end of today the triumphant team would have each travelled 600 miles by bike, collectively (with 24 cyclists) that works out to 14,400 miles!!
Eagerly awaiting the arrival of our Straumann Charity Bike Ride cyclists at the finish line (approximate arrival, 16:30), we are thoroughly looking forward to an afternoon of congratulatory celebrations and hearing about their once in a lifetime journey from Basel, Switzerland to Straumann UK’s hometown of Crawley.
