Dental industry helps Crisis at Christmas

The charity provides food, shelter, advice and healthcare services and aims to provide companionship and support to tackle loneliness and isolation.

The numbers catered for this year were a 7% increase on 2012’s numbers.

Crisis at Christmas take the opportunity to offer healthcare services to the guests.

Managing director of Henry Schein Dental UK, Simon Gambold said: ‘For some of the guests, Crisis at Christmas offers their only opportunity to access dental care, which as we all know is such an important factor in an individual’s overall health and wellbeing. Along with DENTSPLY and the BDIA, we are always pleased to do whatever we can to assist in making this very worthwhile cause the success it is.’

Henry Schein Dental has been supporting Crisis at Christmas for eight years and in 2013 provided and equipped the dental units, which are an important part of the healthcare services provided by Crisis at Christmas.

The units volunteered by Henry Schein Dental were used by volunteer clinicians and nursing staff who performed a total of 404 dental consultations over the six-day period, resulting in a range of treatments including hygiene procedures, 208 fillings and 137 extractions.
