Oral-B unveils its power brush trial programme at the British Dental Conference and Exhibition 2014

For more than 60 years, Oral-B has continued to create oral care solutions to help dental professionals provide great products for their patients’ oral health. This year, at the annual British Dental Conference and Exhibition, Oral-B is introducing to dental professionals three of its latest advancements at the largest UK dental conference. Firstly, there’s the new Test Drive power brush trial programme, secondly there’s the Smartseries electric toothbrush with Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity and last, but by no means least, is the Cross Action brush head.

During the conference, dental professionals can experience Oral-B’s new Test Drive power brush trial programme. Test Drive allows multiple users to experience Oral-B power and Oral-B toothpaste using a shared handle in a hygienic way. To accomplish this, Oral-B has designed and produced specialised handles and refills that feature a Triple-Protection-System:

  • A sealing insert within the specialised refill brush head, works with the specialised handle to help prevent saliva from entering the handle
  • A specially designed protective covering works in combination with the sealing system to help provide extra protection against soiling of the handle
  • The cleaning and disinfection procedure, in line with international standards, ensures a hygienic next use.

‘We understand that dental professionals want to recommend oral care products to their patients once they themselves have tested and approved them,’ said Dr Guy Goffin, associate director, professional and scientific relations at Procter & Gamble. ‘Through Test Drive, we have found an easy solution that adheres to professional hygiene standards allowing professionals to not only test the efficacy of Oral-B products themselves, but also providing patients the chance to experience them in practice. We hope this will foster more comprehensive recommendations.’

Experience brushing with an Oral-B power brush

At the annual meeting, attendees will have the opportunity to experience brushing with an Oral-B power brush and test the Pro-Expert toothpaste, which leverages Oral-B’s unique stabilised stannous fluoride technology and helps protect teeth and gums with eight benefits in one paste. The Test Drive power brush trial programme will be available in-practice to a limited number of dental professionals for patient trials from July 2014.

Furthermore, at this year’s meeting, Oral-B is showcasing the new Cross Action brush head – its most advanced power brush head to date that has perfectly angled bristles for a superior clean (compared to a regular manual toothbrush). Oral-B is also unveiling its new Smartseries electric toothbrush – the world’s first interactive electric toothbrush with Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity. The new toothbrush connects to the Oral-B App to provide real-time guidance while brushing, recording brushing activity as data, which patients can then share with their dental professional, helping to create a smarter and more personalised brushing routine.

‘Oral-B is always trying to find new solutions to help meet patients’ current needs,’ said Stephen Hancocks, dentist, editor and writer. ‘Through the introduction of the new Cross Action brush head, along with the world’s first available interactive toothbrush, oral care routines can become more specialised, allowing for better compliance in between dental visits.’

The Cross Action brush head will be available as of July 2014 in the UK, and the Smartseries electric toothbrush with Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity will be sold at limited retailers in the UK beginning May 2014.
