Online shoppers have a sweet tooth

This total is a 28.4% year-on-year growth compared with last year.

The internet now makes up 3% of sales in confectionary.

Confectionary sales are now outpacing that of online grocery sales, which was up 20.3%.

In contrast The Grocer has reported that impulse sales of confectionary (those made on-the-go) have been dropping by 4.5%, whilst take-home sales are up by 3.3%.

This suggests that more people are choosing to purchase confectionary as part of their grocery shopping, rather than an impulse purchase.
