New software sheds light on dental bleaching

whitesmileThe dental bleaching company Wy10 International has launched an ‘intelligent’ prescribing system for tooth whitening that promises to take the hard work out of offering whitening to patients.

The system – Enhance Smart Bleaching – claims to take just seconds to deliver a whitening treatment plan tailored to the specific nature, location and extent of the stains on patients’ teeth. The plan can be customised to each patients’ lifestyle to aid compliance.

Accessed via the Wy10 website, the system will also ensure that prescriptions are ordered automatically once the case is submitted, saving time and hassle.

The system is simple to use: the dentist simply notes down the patient’s baseline shade, oral health and lifestyle choices, before the patient chooses their desired shade and the ‘smart engine’ at the heart of the system runs the answers through a specially-tailored algorithm and works out a prescription moments later.

The preliminary treatment plan this creates goes on to explain the protocol, duration and products required for the case, as well as its cost and likely duration.

As well as allowing an informed discussion between dentist and patient, the system also provides a facility for documenting consent.

Available only to GDC-registered dentists, it takes less than 48 hours to register with the system, receive unique log in details, and start treating the first cases.
