New dental adviser at the CQC

CQC
John Milne

John Milne has been appointed as the new national professional dental adviser at the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

John Milne, a practising dentist in West Yorkshire, will be taking the position in March, after his tenure as chair of the BDA’s General Dental Practice Committee (GDPC) ends.

Mick Armstrong, chair of the BDA’s Principal Executive Committee, has welcomed the appointment saying: ‘In the past, hands-on knowledge of our profession has been missing from the CQC inspection processes, and it has shown.

‘John Milne’s appointment as national professional dental adviser is therefore welcome news, and another step in the right direction.

‘Dentists have a track record delivering high-quality care, and it will require real insight to target the time, money and effort to where it is most needed.

‘In an ever-more challenging regulatory environment, the CQC needs to engage with dentists and understand the demands placed upon us.

‘With long experience on the front line of NHS practice and representing the profession, John is uniquely qualified to do just that.

‘We wish him the best of luck in his new role.’
