The Harley Street Centre for Endodontics is pleased to announce that applications are now open for the Young Dentist Endodontic Award 2016.
Three superb prizes, which each represent the gold standard in endodontic practice, have been generously donated by the sponsors of this year’s award. The first prize from Dentsply is an X-Smart IQ Waveone Gold starter kit with dual cordless motor and an iPad Mini to control the system. The second prize from Acteon is a P5 Newtron XS ultrasonic irrigation unit with an Endo Success Retreatment Kit, and the third prize from Quality Endodontic Distributors (QED) is a J Morita Root ZX apex locator.
Who can enter?
The award is open to any young dentist who has graduated in the last three years, whether they are in their foundation year or just starting out in their career. In order to compete, young dentists must submit a case report that demonstrates their endodontic skills as well as an evidence-based approach to practice.
Dr Julian Webber, founder of the Harley Street Centre for Endodontics, says: ‘This award is designed to encourage young dentists to develop skills in one of the most complex of primary care procedures. Previous winners have demonstrated high levels of skill that I have been delighted to celebrate.’
Celebrated winners
In addition to the wonderful prizes and the prestige associated with the award, the winner’s case report will be made available for publication and all three successful applicants will be offered the opportunity to spend a day at the Harley Street Centre for Endodontics.
The award is open to any young dentist who has graduated in the last three years
The award will be presented at the Harley Street Centre for Endodontics at a ceremony in October this year. The judging panel includes Dr Webber and Dr Trevor Lamb, endodontists at the centre, and leading clinical academic Professor Andrew Eder of the Eastman Dental Institute and pro-vice-provost at University College London. No names will be on the case reports so the judging can be undertaken anonymously. While the submitted case need not have a successful outcome, the entrant must demonstrate their commitment to saving the tooth and clearly understand the reasons for failure. The deadline for applications is 2 September 2016.
