Ken O’Brien, general manager at Biohorizons UK and Ireland, will cycle the length of Ireland to raise awareness of DKMS.

Cycling on Wednesday 22 June to Sunday 26, Ken plans to cycle 431 miles in total for DKMS, an international charity dedicated to the fight against blood cancer.

‘We should all do our part to raise awareness of blood cancer and how a lot of us may play an important role in helping safe lives,’ Ken O’Brien said.

‘I am very happy, that our team supports me in my mammoth challenge so enthusiastically to raise awareness of this important cause.

‘Saving lives can be easier than one may expect.

‘You have to sign up to be on the UK stem cell register and if you are a match for someone, you may get to donate blood stem cells and help safe their life.’

The Biohorizons team will also be cycling a stationary bike in the office to match the distance Ken is cycling.

According to DKMS, somebody is diagnosed with blood cancer in the UK every 20 minutes, and blood cancer takes a life somewhere in the world once every minute.
