Margarita Vochaiti describes a case whereby crooked central incisors were straightened quickly and easily using Nuvola clear aligners
A young female patient electively presented with a chief complaint of crooked upper teeth. Specifically she was not happy with the UL1 overlapping UR1, and UR1 and UL1 discolouration (Figure 1a).
The patient was in her usual state of excellent health. After a review of the patient’s history of present illnesses, no contraindications emerged to restorative treatment. At checkup the clinician found moderate upper/lower crowding, narrow arches and a non-harmonious smile line (Figures 1b and 1c).
Several restorative options were discussed with the patient including clear aligner therapy. The patient elected clear aligner therapy. The patient’s treatment plan included:
- 17upper/lower aligners
- IPR 0.4mm between UL1/UR1 prior to the third aligner
- IPR 0.2mm UR3/UR4 and UL3/UL4 prior to 12th aligner.
Treatment was scheduled for completion in eight months. Figures 2a-2c show the canine to canine teeth alignment with arch expansion and bite correction. The patient was very pleased with the result and returned for teeth restorative treatment.
