Linda Greenwall honoured in Queen’s Birthday List

Dr Linda Greenwall (pictured left, with Baroness Helen Kennedy and Arlene Philips) has been awarded the British Empire Medal.

The award was made as part of the Queen’s Birthday Honours List, in recognition of Dr Greenwall’s services to the dental profession in the UK and overseas.

A serial entrepreneur in the dental sector, Dr Greenwall runs Hampstead Dental Clinic, set up the British Dental Bleaching Society, and is a sought after expert lecturer on the subject of tooth whitening.

She is also the editor-in-chief of the clinical journal, Aesthetic Dentistry Today.

Philanthropy

More recently, Dr Greenwall  set up the Dental Wellness Trust, which this year launched the Good:Deed toothbrush to raise funds to supply thee million toothbrushes to those without access to even the most basic oral healthcare.

‘As a dentist, I consider it a good deed to brush your own teeth and to help others to do the same is doubly good’, commented Dr Greenwall, on the Good:Deed toothbrush.

‘So the message is simple: when you buy a Good:Deed toothbrush, we give one to a child in need’.

The Dental Wellness Trust also provides supervised tooth brushing programmes for 1 million children in South Africa, and an evening programme in the called Livesmart, which aims to help 10,000 children clean up each night by providing them with brushes, toothpaste and soap (for which the organisation is lobbying for donations from oral health companies and hotels) and teaching them effective oral hygiene methods.

Dr Greenwall is staging an integrated healthcare conference at Lords Cricket Ground on 2 November, to explore methods of ‘Saving Kids’ Teeth’, followed by a fund raising dinner for the Dental Wellness Trust.
