NHS Personal Dental Services in Devon
Devon Primary Care Trust invites Expressions of Interest (EOI) from all suitably qualified and experienced dental providers to provide equitable and responsive NHS dental services in the areas of Sidmouth and Ivybridge, which are located within Devon.
Devon Primary Care Trust is responsible for a total population of over 750,000 and is currently seeking to improve access to dental services in the towns of Sidmouth & Ivybridge.
We are seeking interest from suitably qualified providers who can meet all the legal requirements of NHS dental contracts for the provision of high quality and preventative dental care services.
Sidmouth is situated in East Devon and lies at the mouth of the River Sid, approximately 15 miles (24 km) south east of the County town of Exeter. Sidmouth town itself has a population of approximately 14,000, of whom 40% are over 65.
The other areas of Branscombe; Newton Poppleford & Harpford; Otterton and Southleigh make up the Sidmouth market town area and these areas have a population of approximately 3'500 bringing the total population for the Sidmouth area to 17,500. The town is a tourist resort and a gateway town on the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site.
Ivybridge is situated in the South Hams area of the County of Devon. It lies about 9 miles (14.5 km) east of Plymouth. It is at the southern extremity of Dartmoor, a National Park of England and Wales and lies along the A38 "Devon Expressway" road.
Ivybridge has a population of over 12,000. There are a further 19 parishes which make up the Ivybridge market town area and these areas have a population of over 22'500, bringing the total population served by Ivybridge to 34,500.
Location requirements are listed below and providers can express an interest in one or both locations:
• Sidmouth (24'000 units of dental activity)
• Ivybridge (27'000 units of dental activity)
Both contracts will be for the provision of the full range of mandatory dental services.
Those wishing to submit an Expression Of Interest in tendering for either contract are asked to submit their EOI and complete a pre-qualification questionnaire online at: https://tactica.belmin.com. The questionnaire and accompanying indicative service specifications will be available from 2nd June 2009 and must be completed online by 1700 hrs on 10th July 2009.
