Henry Schein sponsors Jubilee Sailing Trust’s Windsor Cup Regatta
For the 8th consecutive year, Henry Schein has sponsored the Jubilee Sailing Trust’s Windsor Cup Regatta, which was held on the6-7 September, raising over £9,000 for the charity.
The Jubilee Sailing Trust (JST) took part in last year’s Diamond Jubilee Thames Pageant and this year celebrates its 35th anniversary, promotes the integration of physically disabled and able-bodied people through the medium of tall ship sailing. The Windsor Cup is a fundraising event organised by the Trust specifically for crews that have at least one member from the medical, dental or associated professionals.
A relaxed and fun weekend became a hard-fought competition once the crews took to the water and this year the nine competing yachts had to endure every type of weather throughout the weekend, from hailstone to bright sunshine.
The winning yacht, ‘Bella’, was skippered by Dr Ruth Padday, a GP who herself is a regular JST volunteer, with dentist Tony Morton from Ealing, coming a creditable second in ‘Lancelot 2’. The Royal Yacht Squadron was the perfect setting for the event’s prize-giving dinner held on Saturday evening and provided a fitting end to the weekend’s activities.
Simon Gambold, managing director at Henry Schein Dental, a keen sailor and firm supporter of the Windsor Cup, was delighted that Henry Schein had once again played a part in the event which in the past eight years has raised in excess of £56,000 for the JST.
'The generosity of the participants, both financially and in freely giving their time makes it a privilege to be involved in the Windsor Cup and I hope we can continue to support this very worthwhile cause for many years to come.'
The Windsor Cup will be competed for again in September 2014 – anyone with a love of sailing who is interested in taking part should contact Danni Keenan on 023 8042 6868 or email email@example.com
