A one-stop shop for complaints, concerns and comments on health services in Portsmouth is up and running.

Health officials have combined the complaints team and Patients' advice and Liaison Service to make is easier for people's concerns to be resolved.

The new Patient Experience Service – run by Portsmouth City Teaching Primary Care Trust – is designed to cut out red tape and make complaining easier.

Head of service Marion Wood said: 'It's vital to know where we are getting it wrong so that we can make things better. Our staff do a huge amount of excellent work for patients, and, while we want to hear about times when people believe we could have done better, we welcome feedback about when we've got it right.'

The trust received 227 complaints last year and 305 messages for the quality of service it provides to patients.

The patients will have the right to make a complaint to the trust about their GP, dentist, pharmacist, NHS optician and local hospital services.
