Wrigley Oral Healthcare in Action has announced the names of the five dentists short-listed to win the £10,000 cash prize towards refurbishing their NHS dental practice this year – but it’s up to Dentistry readers to choose the winner. (see voting details at the end). The short-listed entrants are: • Dr Hinesh Shah from The Lane Dental Practice, Ilford • Mr Alan Kerr & Miss Sarah Macintyre from Macintyre & Kerr, Helensburgh • Dr Dinesh Phakkey from Redhouse Dental Clinic, Worcester • Dr Tertius Alberts from the Dental Art Clinic, Thatcham • Dr Peter Soin from Teeth – U – Like, Merton. Terms and conditions of the competition mean dentists have to refurbish their NHS practice this year, and agree to be featured in Dentistry following the selection. To enter, they had to include an A4 outline of their modernisation plans, include a budget proposal, and enclose photographs of how the practice looks now. Entrants also had to explain in 150 words how the £10,000 cash prize would make a difference to the practice refurbishment. Highly commended entrants as voted by Dentistry magazine and Wrigley’s included Dr Iyetunde Bello’s Tooth Clinic in London, and Charlie Hammond and Andrew Coombs from Hammond and Coombs Dental Care. Commenting on the standard of the entrant’s applications, Charlotte Howard, Wrigley’s Oral Healthcare in Action manager said: ‘We are delighted to have so many worthy practices to choose from and hope that our contribution will help improve the environment and delivery of better oral care in the winning practice for both the dental team and their patients.’ The five lucky dentists will be interviewed and then featured in the next issue of Dentistry, where readers can vote for the winner.
