Argos catalogues good dental care tips
14th Sep 2009Argos Smile Week – a campaign supported by the British Dental Health Foundation, Argos and P&G Oral Health – is launched on 30 September.
Most practices will be familiar with National Smile Month in May, and organisers of Argos Smile Week believe that introducing an interim campaign in the autumn will provide an additional opportunity to get the public thinking about oral health.
Dr Nigel Carter, chief executive of the BDHF, said: ‘There is much coverage in the consumer press on healthcare matters. However, dentistry seems to be quite a low priority.'
This is also the belief of P&G, whose spokesperson added: ‘When stories do appear they often focus on cosmetic procedures. Prevention doesn't appear to be too appealing a topic. However, it is core to government strategy and obviously something that we are passionate about.'
Argos Smile Week will be promoted in Argos stores nationwide and runs until 6 October.
Dr Carter added: ‘We need to get people thinking about how they're brushing their teeth, why oral hygiene is so important and what they can do to improve their oral health.
‘National Smile Month generates a tremendous amount of press interest and having this transient campaign in Argos stores will keep the momentum going.'
