Dento-legal and clincial experts have teamed up to offer comprehensive advice at a conference next month (March).

Experts from the DDU, the specialist dental division of the MDU and clinical specialists from the Eastman will share their extensive experience and knowledge on the latest developments in their fields.

Dentists can obtain six hours of verifiable CPD at a one-day conference at the UCL Eastman Dental Institute, central London, on Friday 19 March 2010.

The programme – aimed at general dental practitioners and specialists – will cover three specific treatment areas:
• endodontics
• periodontics
• prosthodontics.

This from a detailed clinical and risk management perspective, including commonly encountered technical problems and treatment outcomes. There will also be talks on professional accountability and dealing with claims and complaints.

Rupert Hoppenbrouwers, head of the DDU, said: 'While the DDU has been running CPD courses for some time as part of our educational programme, this conference is our first collaboration with the Eastman. Given our two organisations have 120 years combined experience in providing comprehensive education and advice to the dental profession, I am confident that conference delegates will benefit from a highly informative day.'

Professor Andrew Eder from the Eastman added: 'We are delighted to be working with the DDU to put together a programme which makes excellent use of our joint expertise: delegates will not only get an invaluable insight into the latest clinical techniques in important dental specialties but they can also get a better understanding of the issues which could give rise to dento-legal problems and learn how these may be avoided.'

DDU members and dentists who have studied for a degree with the UCL Eastman are entitled to a discounted conference fee of £155. The full fee for all other delegates is £199.
