Birmingham has been rated as the top institution in the UK for the study of dentistry by The Guardian University Guide for 2011.

The University's undergraduate course in dentistry has been given an overall rating of 100% in the guide.

The table reveals that 96% of the graduates studying dentistry at Birmingham are satisfied with their course, with 100% in employment six months after qualifying.

The guide – published in print and online – includes league tables of universities to make it easier for students to choose a course.

Final-year students score their universities according to how satisfied they have been with their courses as part of the National Student Survey.

The tables, compiled by independent consultancy firm Intelligent Metrix, heavily weight the results of this survey when compiling the rankings. Other league tables concentrate on research ratings.

Dundee came second for its dentistry course, according to The Guardian's score rating, and Sheffield was in third place.

There was insufficient data to calculate a ranking for the Peninsula Dental School, the UK's newest dental school for 40 years.

The tables are published in full on their website. Click here for here for the dentistry table.
