Dental hygienist Jacqui Mcnair has been using the Florida Probe for a year, and finds it a great support for her patient care.

She says: 'Although I was initially unsure about the device, I'm now hugely impressed with it.

'I particularly like the calibrations. Unlike manual probing, I don't have to worry about a slightly impaired field of vision; as long as I can get a good placement I know the probing depth will be consistently accurate.

'As one of a team of hygienists I can be confident we are all measuring to the same depths for continuity within treatment plans.'

Jacqui works at Dollar Dental Care in Clackmannanshirem, Scotland.

She adds: 'Being able to include patient details to evaluate and assess periodontal risk alongside the probing depths examination is an excellent tool which provides an accurate risk assessment of their periodontal health, this is becoming all the more relevant for maintaining a legal record of treatment.

'As a patient education tool the Florida Probe is fantastic. The print-outs, including the education sheets, are very clear and concise. There is scope for the operator to personalise the information sheets. The fact that at the follow-up appointment the chart clearly shows the differences and exactly where improvement or deterioration has occurred is a great advantage.

All in all, I think it is a really nice piece of kit.
