Tory MP dentist to chair government dentistry group

Sir Paul Beresford MP has been elected as the new chair of the all-party parliamentary group (APPG) for dentistry.
The Conservative MP for Mole Valley and dental surgeon replaces Charlotte Atkins who lost her seat in the general election.
Mr Beresford served as secretary to the group during the previous parliament. Three vice chairs of the group have also been elected.
Lord Colwyn, Conservative Peer and dental surgeon, was re-elected to his position as vice-chair, as was Labour peer Lord Lea of Crondall.
Since its formation, the APPG has acted as a focus for dental and oral health issues, raising the profile of dentistry in parliament and highlighting the views of both patients and the profession.
Members include former health committee chair, Kevin Barron MP and candidate for the new health committee Rosie Cooper MP.
The other members are Andrew Rosindell MP (Con), Baroness Gardner of Parkes (Con), Andrew Percy MP (Con), Lord Newton of Braintree (Con), Greg Mulholland MP (Lib Dem), Andrew George MP (Lib Dem), Adrian Sanders MP (Lib Dem), John Leech MP (Lib Dem), Jim Dobbin MP (Lab), Natascha Engel MP (Lab), Nick Raynsford MP (Lab), Baroness Masham of Ilton (Crossbench), Lord Walton of Detchant (Crossbench), and Baroness Finlay of Llandaff (Crossbench).
The BDA has been re-elected to act as secretariat to the group.
