Crowns and coronets for beauty queen dentist

Smiles are important to Dr Jennifer Bate. As a committed young dentist, she is dedicated to putting a smile on the faces of her patients.
And as a beauty queen, the reigning Miss Charity, she devotes time to raising funds for her chosen causes, the Variety Club Children's Charity, and the Tanzanian dental charity Bridge2Aid.
Sponsored by Schottlander, whose award-winning dental products help transform the nation's smiles, Jennifer, who entered her first beauty contest just for fun earlier this year, is happy with the idea that beauty and brains go easily together.
Earlier this month she had a particularly busy day when she competed in the finals of the Miss Professional beauty pageant – in which she came fifth – having already dealt with an important commitment earlier in the day.
First thing in the morning she made a presentation at the University Hospital, Coventry.
The presentation at the hospital marked the completion of Jennifer's Foundation dentist training, and she was awarded her Diploma of Membership of the Joint Dental Faculty of the Royal College of Surgeons (MJDF) certification
Dentistry runs in the family for Jennifer. Both her father and brother are dentists, and her mother is a dental hygienist.
Now that she is a qualified dentist, she hopes to stay in the Warwickshire area to practise.
She says: 'I am passionate about what I do. It is incredibly rewarding to do this work, to be able to free people from pain, and to give them a wonderful smile.'
