Early diagnosis saves lives – so join the campaign to make a difference in the UK.

Take part in the Blue Ribbon Badge Appeal to raise funds and awareness of mouth cancer by selling and wearing your campaign badge with pride.

Members of the public can play a part through self examination for early warning signs of mouth cancer and by being aware of risk factors such as tobacco, excess alcohol and HPV.

Dentists can save lives with routine screenings for mouth cancer. All health care professionals must be prepared to educate and inform patients.

A lack of awareness has contributed to a 41% rise in cases over the past decade.

Mouth Cancer Walk 2010

18 September 2010

The annual Mouth Cancer Walk event is in Kensington Gardens (it is next to Hyde Park), London. It meets several objectives. Firstly, it is a unique free fun day event to increase public awareness of mouth cancer with free mouth cancer screening provided by dentists to participants and the public at the event. Secondly, the event provides head and neck cancer patients, their carers and survivors with the only annual event that recognises their cancer. Survivors wear sashes and celebrate survivorship. Thirdly, it also provides family and friends with an event with which they can remember the loved ones they have lost to mouth cancer. Fourthly, the event gets the attention of the media and public with stories in local and national media about their participation and so gets the mouth cancer awareness message heard all over the country. It is an event for everyone.
