A leading dental spokesperson has underlined the importance of practice managers in registration with the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Speaking at the first CODE Care Quality Commission (CQC) registration seminar last Thursday (16 September), British Dental Practice Managers' Association chairman, Amelia Bray, highlighted the crucial role practice managers will play in the new CQC process.

She says: 'The Care Quality Commission requires there to be a registered manager for the majority of dental practices and, in most cases, this will be the practice manager.

'The registered manager must have suitable training and experience and receive regular and comprehensive training.

'The British Dental Practice Manager's Association has always recognised the important role of the practice manager in a dental practice which is why we organise development seminars, provide a support network and regularly distribute news and informative articles to our members.'

The BDPMA is supporting the CQC registration seminars being run by CODE with the remaining three taking place in London (Thursday 23 September), Bristol (Thursday 7 October) and Birmingham (Friday 8 October).

Places are still available and bookings can be made by phone on 01409 254354 or online at www.CODEuk.com/seminars.
