Teeth the Musical DVD has won this year's Patron's Prize at the National Oral Health Promotion Group annual conference, adding to the 2010 Education Business Award from Somerset County Council.

This 14-minute animated film is aimed at the learning disabled and young children and is a partnership project between Somerset Primary Care Dental Service, Bridgwater College, Biggerhouse Film and Somerset Film.

There is also a new trainer's pack with 10 student magazines to accompany the DVD.

The serious message about oral hygiene comes across in a fun and informative way in a story about Fred who finds his teeth talking and singing to him about the importance of taking care of them properly.

The film features artwork produced by the students who also supply the voiceovers and sing the songs.

Rachel Pinder, acting assistant clinical director of the Somerset Primary Dental Service says: 'We are trialling the new trainer's pack in schools and colleges and it is being very well received as an excellent teaching resource.'

JUMPcuts has produced eight other DVDs covering subjects such as healthy lifestyles, food hygiene, how to complain, the Mental Capacity Act, least restrictive practice and personal health.

These films and Teeth can be previewed and purchased via www.jumpcuts.org.uk.
